Going In and Coming Out
Lenten Vespers Series
We are offering Holden Evening Prayer in the Worship Park on Wednesday Evenings in Lent at 7:00 PM. All are welcome to attend in person, following appropriate social distancing practices, or to view the livestream online.
The labyrinth, or maze, is an ancient tool for faithful reflection and meditation, and Christians have used labyrinths for prayerful consideration since the middle ages. The process of going into the labyrinth, wending one’s way to the center, confronting a challenge, and traveling back out is a time-tested discipline for discernment and faith-based problem solving.
We are excited to announce that one of our young members, as part of his pursuing Eagle Scout rank, is building a labyrinth for St. Martin’s in our worship park. This year’s Lenten Vespers services will focus on the labyrinth, its history, and its use in prayer and consideration. We’ll hear personal stories about “going in and coming out,” and we will mark the progress of our own labyrinth as it is planned and completed.
